Note: This position is located in Chicago, Illinois
Assist the president in her duties and be prepared to fill her role in her absence. Must lead in the production of a consistent, quality product and interact effectively with the client and the project team.
An Architectural Degree and License to Practice Architecture in the US are required.
Essential for promotion or hire to this position are superior communication skills and local market awareness. Additionally, business management, accounting, design, management and technical skills, and construction awareness are required. Enthusiasm for challenges, the product and the profession are also required for this position. The Vice:President will provide leadership, management and technical guidance to the project managers and their teams of 2 to 7 persons, including outside consultants. This position will also provide insight into client needs and seek and maintain endearing client relationships. The Vice:President will also be responsible for the projects profitability. Project size will vary from small (5,000 sq. ft) to large (100,000 sq. ft.) and will include interior, renovation and new construction projects.
The following typical tasks will be required:
Marketing and Sales:
:Help establish and execute company companys goals, vision and mission
:Respond to proposals and aide in the development of marketing literature
:Identify emerging markets and industry trends
:Identify client needs and service delivery methods
:Maintain positive client relationships
:Educate the client
:Promote Brook Architecture to existing and prospective clients
:Identify required tasks, time and fee required to complete a potential project
:Help determine project feasibility
:Create project schedule
:Prepare proposal and review with client
:Meet and interview client to gather information regarding goals of the project
:Document program and associated square footages
:Conduct zoning and building code review to determine feasibility
:Field Verification
:Identify potential challenges and assist team in finding and documenting accurate information
:Help produce drawings using AutoCAD, Revit or manual drafting techniques
:Establish design concepts
:Create free hand sketches and apply rendering concepts
:Plan spaces; including vehicular and pedestrian circulation for exterior and interior spaces.
:Supervise code research and apply requirements and/or recognized violations
:Develop elevations, building sections and details
:Coordinate with MEP, Structural, Civil and other consultants
:Supervise the development of statement of probable costs
:Review cartoon set for document outline
:Coordinate and execute the production of Contract Documents and Specifications
:Coordinate with the owner to document bidding and construction requirements
:Coordinate and review design solutions with outside consultants for completion of the contract drawings
:Conduct quality control and quality assurance review
:Supervise the development of design details using appropriate materials, methods
:Update statement of probable costs
:Supervise response to Contractors request for information
:Supervise the preparation of bid packages and distribution to the Contractors
:Visit site during construction and determine contractors performance with regard to the contract documents
:Communicate contract requirements to the contractor
:Supervise the receipt and review of shop drawings and submittals
:Supervise response to RFIs
:Coordinate the preparation of bulletins and change orders
:Prepare punch list
:Review and coordinate the issuance of close:out documents
:Conduct post occupancy surveys
:Produce documents using Microsoft Word, Excel
:Develop project team structure as appropriate to meet client goals and fee.
