Position Overview
The mission of Manufacturing Engineering to establish and lead the development, implementation, and support of manufacturing processes to verify and drive improvements while meeting goals of quality, cost and delivery for our customers. This position reports to the Engineering Manager within the Engineering department of an established contract manufacturer serving the following markets; Medical, Industrial, Automotive, Food Service, Telecommunication, among others.
Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing assembly processes, creating detailed manufacturing work instructions and testing procedures in support of our ISO 9001 requirements. In addition, this position supports continuous improvement by performing product/process analysis for quality improvements, cost reductions and improved efficiency.
To be successful the candidate must be self:motivated, possess excellent communication skills, time/project management skills, a positive attitude, be able to keep timely, consistent and accurate records of work and train manufacturing associates.
Basic Background Requirements
This position will require:
:
Engineering degree, prefer Mechanical or Industrial
:
3:8 years of relevant work experience with knowledge of a variety of production methods and materials
:
ISO 9001 experience required
:
ISO 13485 experience helpful
:
Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA execution
:
Experience with PPAP execution
:
Experience with validation (IQ, OQ, PQ) helpful
:
Experience with sheet metal design and manufacturing
:
Experience with injection molding design and processing is helpful
:
Experience with design of machined parts
:
Experience with various assembly methods such as mechanical, welding, gluing, ultrasonic welding, UV adhesives, solvent bonding, pad printing / decorating, etc.
:
Ability to manage time and projects effectively while setting and meeting aggressive schedules
:
Ability to utilize 3D CAD software for mechanical design
:
Working independently
:
The ability to work with all levels of the organization
:Ability to understand business, legal and regulatory requirements
:Ability to keep humor in the work place
Key Performance Objectives
Short Term: (0 to 3 months)
:
Learn KEFAB Quality system requirements
:
Build relationships with Engineering and Operations team members
:
Participate in production scheduling sessions
:
Begin documenting and developing process flows for launch of critical medical device product.
:
Assist in validation efforts for commissioning of production systems
:
Design fixtures and tooling
:
Maintain customer specific system documentation in support of ISO 9001 requirements.
Midterm: (3 to 6 months)
:
Be accountable for the execution of manufacturing engineering task on time as outlined in project plans.
:
Train production associates on processes and procedures
:
Work closely with quality to investigate root causes and disposition of NCRs
:
Assist in transition activities of the business unit to Kimball Electronics
:
Learn and adopt Kimball Electronics philosophies and culture
:
Work with project managers in the execution of project plans
:
Write and execute validation / qualification protocols and reports for manufacturing equipment and processes
:Participate in risk assessment activities (PFMEA, DFMEA)
Long term: (6 to 12 months)
:
Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
:
Coordinate the methods used to produce products and develop processes to ensure quality cost and efficiency requirements are met.
:
Designs, develops, tests and cost:justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
:
Develop assembly processes, creating detailed manufacturing instructions and testing procedures.
