Job Description:
Smoking Goose seeks a self-motivated individual with a great passion for food and the desire to work closely with our team. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of specialty food distributors, how they operate, and how best to provide support to foster these partnerships. Because Smoking Goose values relationships with our distributor partners, their representatives, and customers, the ideal candidate is expected to develop interpersonal relationships as the key to building upon our success. The right candidate must be willing to travel and participate in a variety of food shows, product demonstrations, events, and other types of product training. Success in this position will be measured based on account profitably maintained and grown within these distributor partnerships. This candidate will also be held accountable for attendance at required events and the new accounts that are secured as a result of connections made during those events.

General Responsibilities:
• Be comfortable with the sales, marketing, and customer service elements of Smoking Goose
• Attend all sales meetings and other meetings as required
• Understand and successfully communicate product knowledge, production methods, and the standards of Smoking Goose and Slow Food
• Excel at demonstrating and communicating product knowledge
• Represent Smoking Goose in a positive manner at all times
• Report directly to the Operations Manager

Customer Service:
• Conduct business in an enthusiastic, honest, and confident manner
• Value the individual account, no matter the size
• Be accessible, inviting, and personable with all customers
• Be comfortable handling one-on-one customer interactions and customer service issues whether on the phone, in person, or via email
• Properly use Smoking Goose’s team and available tools to resolve customer issues
• Perform regular on site visits with customers
• Field and respond to all product inquiries
• Use any means necessary within reason to accommodate customers’ issues, needs, and orders
• Return all phone calls the same day and all emails within 24 hours

Distributor Relations:
• Be a self-starter: be internally driven by a desire to be successful in the food service business
• Present at distributor food shows, sample products, and provide feedback
• Assist distributor partners in product knowledge and training
• Attend regular “ride alongs” with distributor representatives focusing on new product placement and new account growth
• Help to facilitate distribution of product samples for potential and existing accounts
• Coordinate the correction of product issues with customer service representatives
• Work closely with distributor partners to foster a positive relationship
• Motivate distributor representatives in the sale of new products to existing accounts
• Seek out and foster new distribution accounts and partnerships

Marketing Coordination:
• Merchandise products and provide marketing materials on location with retail accounts
• Facilitate on-site product sampling and product demonstrations with new and existing accounts
• Attend food shows for new and existing accounts, sample products, and provide feedback
• Lead regular product training for accounts
• Conduct Smoking Goose facility tours and product sampling for existing and potential accounts
• Share event details, new product placements, and other relevant information with Social Media Coordinator

• Abide by Smoking Goose’s sales and marketing strategy
• Understand how to build on past success by asking for more business
• Understand, manage and accurately predict sales projections
• Inspire the sale of new products to existing accounts within our distributor partnerships
