About us….

Ascension is the largest not-for-profit healthcare corporation in America, and the third-largest overall. We are located in 24 states and the District of Columbia, and have over 2500 venues of care, 141 of which are major hospitals. One locally you may be familiar with is St Vincent here in Indianapolis’. Our roots go back over 400 years to Europe, where St. Vincent DePaul and groups of Catholic sisters endeavored to find ways to care for the poor. Our chief core value is helping people who are on the margins of life. To that end, our bottom line is always how much we can give away. We typically donate at least 2 billion dollars per year to the poor, primarily in the form of free or reduced rate healthcare.
