Job Description Marian University, a Catholic Franciscan institution of higher education, invites applications for the position of Online Instructional Designer and Academic Support. This position is responsible for design, development, maintenance, compliance, and support of the delivery of online courses. S/he will assist in designing courses, developing them in the Learning Management System (LMS), and supporting online faculty to deliver high-quality learning experiences. S/he will also offer program academic and administrative support. S/he will work collaboratively the MAP Executive Director, MAP Director of Educational Services, department chairs, program directors, and the professionals at the Center for Teaching and Learning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : · Assist the Director of Educational Services in delivering high-quality online courses · Work with faculty to redesign existing courses and create new online courses based on templates and established guidelines · Conduct regular reviews of online courses to ensure high-quality design and rigorous content · Serve as the Canvas LMS and the CAMS Student Information System (SIS) specialist for the faculty and online curriculum · Work with faculty to prepare for the start of each session including technical support for Canvas · Assist in training faculty to teach and administer online courses · Stay current on regulations related to online education and recommend instructional tools and methods to improve students’ educational experience · Contribute to program and courses assessment and prepare departmental reports · Maintain and update a textbook list for the online courses and work with the faculty and bookstore to ensure availability of books in a timely manner · Assist with program administration by maintaining a faculty list, help with generating contracts, review syllabi, and maintain course files · Attend departmental and interdepartmental meetings, coordinates projects, and serve on university committees as assigned · Assist with program special events and engage actively in the life of the university Requirements include: · Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution · Entry-level experience related to course design · Online education and online teaching experience preferred · Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills · Attention to detail · Proofreading and multitasking skills · Strong computer skills and comfort with various software, spreadsheets, and technology tools · Analytical and problem solving skills are essential · Experience working with a SIS and a LMS would be beneficial Company Description Located within 10 minutes of downtown Indianapolis, Marian University is one of the nation’s preeminent Catholic institutions of higher learning, and ranks as one of US News & World Report’s top universities in the Midwest Region.
