Online Instructional Designer and Academic Support Marian University, a Catholic Franciscan institution of higher education, invites applications for the position of Online Instructional Designer and Academic Support. This position is responsible for design, development, maintenance, compliance, and support of the delivery of online courses. S/he will assist in designing courses, developing them in the Learning Management System (LMS), and supporting online faculty to deliver high-quality learning experiences. S/he will also offer program academic and administrative support. S/he will work collaboratively the MAP Executive Director, MAP Director of Educational Services, department chairs, program directors, and the professionals at the Center for Teaching and Learning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the Director of Educational Services in delivering high-quality online coursesWork with faculty to redesign existing courses and create new online courses based on templates and established guidelinesConduct regular reviews of online courses to ensure high-quality design and rigorous contentServe as the Canvas LMS and the CAMS Student Information System (SIS) specialist for the faculty and online curriculum Work with faculty to prepare for the start of each session including technical support for CanvasAssist in training faculty to teach and administer online coursesStay current on regulations related to online education and recommend instructional tools and methods to improve students' educational experienceContribute to program and courses assessment and prepare departmental reportsMaintain and update a textbook list for the online courses and work with the faculty and bookstore to ensure availability of books in a timely mannerAssist with program administration by maintaining a faculty list, help with generating contracts, review syllabi, and maintain course filesAttend departmental and interdepartmental meetings, coordinates projects, and serve on university committees as assignedAssist with program special events and engage actively in the life of the university Requirements include: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institutionEntry-level experience related to course designOnline education and online teaching experience preferredStrong oral, written, and interpersonal skillsAttention to detailProofreading and multitasking skillsStrong computer skills and comfort with various software, spreadsheets, and technology toolsAnalytical and problem solving skills are essentialExperience working with a SIS and a LMS would be beneficial Located within 10 minutes of downtown Indianapolis, Marian University is one of the nation's preeminent Catholic institutions of higher learning, and ranks as one of US News & World Report's top universities in the Midwest Region.
