TITLE: Payroll and Benefits Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors and coordinates all company employee benefit and payroll functions. Communicates all benefit programs to employees and answers questions.
:Processes Weekly Payroll including Weekly and Monthly Journal Entries;
:Prepares various reports on payroll and benefits;
:Coordinates required payroll tax filings;
:Coordinates and process new enrollments and open enrollment benefits for corporate office and subsidiaries;
:Works with HR team to conduct new employee orientation of benefits;
:Coordinates and processes paperwork for all employee LOAs;
:Updates and maintains employee records through HRIS and payroll data systems;
:Maintains basement and HR department paper filing systems.;
:Coordinates information, reports and plans for Wheaton ESOP and 401(k) plans;
:Performs NDT for 401k plan, Saving Plan;

OTHER REQUIRED FUNCTIONS: Processes benefits premiums. Distributes and posts benefit annual summaries to company bulletin boards. Provides verification of employment. Answers general employee questions with payroll, benefits, policy and procedures. Assists the Finance department and the Director of Human Resources as necessary and must be able to assume other duties and/or projects as assigned. Proactively creates processes and methods to minimize errors and operate as efficiently as possible. Assists HR team with employee engagement activities, including but not limited to annual holiday party, wellness initiatives, etc.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree or equivalent experience in HR field with concentration in payroll and benefits. A minimum of three years of experience in Human Resources, specifically related to payroll and benefits. Experience with an HRIS system to process payroll and benefits, ADP preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Basic understanding of accounting principles, payroll taxes; government payroll laws and rules. Professionalism and confidentiality. Detail oriented. Ability to problem solve with varying complexity, without clearly defined solution. Must have the ability to relate past applications to new or unique situations. Candidate must be self:motivated. Ability to multi:task with high level of accuracy.
REQUIRED INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Strong organizational skills exhibiting positive, friendly, welcoming, and outgoing interpersonal behaviors. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent
interpersonal/human relations skills are necessary for this position.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS: PC experience required, specifically, highly proficient in Microsoft Office : Word and Excel.
